Cutwork

Cutwork is a weaving technique practised in Uttar Pradesh where the two thin layers of fabric are woven together one above the other, and they meet wherever the pattern is intended to show up. After the weaving is complete, workers manually use small scissors to snip away the lower layer threads that are not woven into the design. The result is a thin, transparent fabric with subtle opaque designs woven into it.

Fabric Care: Gentle handwash is fine if the fabric is pure cotton, although since it is a delicate fabric dry cleaning would preserve the life of the fabric for longer. Dry clean for silk cutwork.
